Day 3 Continued: We packed up at our leisure and headed out from Sudbury along Highway 17. It wasn't a bad drive at all. We did attempt to go to Tim Horton's but there just wasn't enough room for the bus and a Toad. There was some construction and some cyclists, which slowed us down a bit. In fact, at one point, we came up over a hill and the truck in front of us slammed on the brakes-- causing us to slam on the brakes. And? I went flying about 10 feet forward, smacking my head on the front console of the bus. Yes, I'm fine. The border was about a 45 minute wait, backed up over the bridge. No troubles at the border, the guard simply stood back and waved at Carson and I through the window. We stopped at the first SuperWalmart in Soo, MI for groceries. About 60 miles later, we could see the Mackinaw Bridge! Carson was so excited, it is an amazing sight to see. The toll was $15.50 (that is alot of axles!). We made our way to the KOA and checked in. Our site is a pull through, so not bad parking and getting set up. It was a beautiful day! Carson and I went to the playground and checked out the pool. We got in the Tracker and went for a drive into town, then came back and went to the pool for a lovely swim. BBQ dinner and a fire!

Day 4: We woke up and it was another beautiful day. We slept in-- it was perfect! We had planned a trip to St. Ignace (just across the bridge). We went to the Deer Farm first. They had 12 fawns and over 30 deer, including albino deer! We bought some carrot sticks and we loved feeding the deer. They liked having their ears scratched too. :)
The store had some really great stuff, including a magnet that Carson chose for our bus fridge. Next stop was the “Mystery Spot”, which was a disappointment. They had a lame mini golf, and a $5 tour (of what, we are not sure) and ziplining. We left, and continued on to Totem Village, which was also a disappointment. I’m sure it was nice in its day, but it was rundown. It had some souvenirs and the wild animals was a fox, a peacock and a goat. We walked around anyway. As we approached the bridge we saw a huge line up! So, we pulled into McDonalds, had some lunch and waited it out. Back across the bridge and back to the bus. It started to rain a bit, so Carson came in to watch his movie, and I went for a walk. Adam cooked dinner and Carson and I went for a swim. He is such a good swimmer! It really started to rain, so we came inside and had a quiet, warm night. The bus is so cozy!
View from the bridge. Lovely beaches everywhere! |
