Day 1, 2 and 3

Day 1: We left Lindsay around 9am. It was beginning to rain. As we went north, there was more rain. I quickly checked the forecast for Sudbury and it said partly cloudy-- and it was right. We arrived around 12:30 to Carol Campsite with the sun shining. Carol's is mostly seasonal-- meaning alot of "built in" trailers. Carson and I helped set up outside and then went for a walk down to the beach. The beach was a bit weedy, but there was a playground and a place to swim. Toad had a few slides. Adam had a friend from college that he wanted to surprise, so we got in the Tracker and went into Sudbury, about a 10 minute drive. We found his work, and Adam went in and surprised him- very fun! It was very hot and sunny in the Tracker, so Carson and I walked to McDonald's and got a drink, while they had a visit. We then went to the mall "New Sudbury Place"- which was similar to the mall in Lindsay. we hit Dollarama, the grocery store, and back to to Carol Campsite. We had a late dinner- steak, chicken, potatoes/onions and some corn. The bugs came out, so retreated inside to watch some Expressvu.

Here are some shots of Toad.

Day 2: This morning I went for a walk at around 7am and it was hot! Another warm and sunny day in Sudbury. The bathrooms at Carol Campsite are decent, but they are in some kind of modular building and when another person walks around, you feel like you are in a boat. However-- they are clean! We got ready for our day and went to find the "big coin". Carson was pretty excited when we spotted it up on the hill. We walked right up to it, took some photos, and Carson decided it had a different side (why didn't I think of that). There is also a building called "Dynamic Earth" which is affiliated with Science North. There were a few displays and exhibits- dinosaurs (Toad held a fossilized dinosaur egg). We went on the "mine tour" which involves learning more about a typical day of a miner and the history of mining in Sudbury. The whole thing is underground and you wear a hardhat (which Toad loved). I really enjoyed it. We then came back to relax for a while. Next, we were off to another one of Adam's college friends. She graciously invited us over to her family's house for dinner. It was lovely. The children swam in the pool, were in and out of the sauna, and cooled off in the outdoor shower! A great dinner, some laughs, some drinks and adult conversation was needed! The kids got their pjs on and hung out while Adam and I had a nice visit. We haven't seen Angie and Dan in 7 years, so it was great to see them and we appreciated their hospitality. I drove the Tracker home. It was interesting. I didn't know how fast I was going and it was dark and I don't know the roads. But it was fine! :) Adam and I stayed up a few minutes and then we fell in bed. Carson fell asleep on the way home.

Day 3: We had planned on getting up and leaving by 8am. However it is 7:53. Carson is sound asleep, and I am typing this as Adam is watching tv. We need to remember we are on vacation! But, we are super excited to get to Mackinaw City today! We love it there. We figure it is about a 6 hour drive. We are planning on stopping in Soo, Michigan at the SuperWalmart for groceries. We will be in Mackinaw City for 3 nights at the KOA.

Off to pack up! Stay tuned!
